How To Pick The Right Bathroom Tiles For Your Home

My name is Richard. I own a large commercial business which is located in Melbourne, Australia. Last year, I decided I needed to revamp the look of my business so I shut everything down for 8 weeks and called in a team of contractors. The contractors replaced the plumbing and installed a new electrical system. I also asked them to carry out some work on the roof. I was really impressed with how quickly they completed the work so I could reopen my business to the public. I decided to start this blog so I could offer advice to other business owners.

Tiles are by far the most popular method of flooring when it comes to bathrooms, and for good reason. They are sturdy, naturally waterproof (to an extent), easy to clean and look very hygienic which is important in a room focused on self-care. However, there are many different types of tiles, and choosing the right fit for your bathroom is just as important as deciding on the amenities that you will put in your bathroom. Here are a few tips and tricks to help choose the best tiles for your bathroom so you do not get annoyed with it in the future.

Size

If you have a smaller bathroom, or just have a little room with a toilet next to the larger bathroom, then you might want to consider using smaller bathroom tiles. These mini-tiles fit your space more evenly and look better than having larger, square tiles cut up at various points. Mini-tiles are not as in fashion anymore, but they are just as useful as larger tiles when installed correctly and can even be made to have certain ornate patterns so that they become a feature in their own right. If you have not considered mini-tiles then it is at least worth a look.

Colour

Colour is something not a lot of people consider with tiles for their bathroom because of how prevalent white tiles are. The truth is you can find tiles in every colour under the sun, and if you want to create a bathroom that is aligned with the rest of your home's interior then maybe you should put a bit more time into choosing the right style. A lot of people find cooler colours like blue, pastilles and muted earth tones to be great in their bathroom without being too visually loud and distracting for the space.

Price

While it is a good idea to bargain hunt wherever you can, when it comes to bathroom tiling this is not an area to try and shave a couple of bucks off the price. The simple truth is that stronger, more durable and better-looking tiles will cost more money than their cheaper alternatives. While that doesn't mean you have to spend an arm and a leg on bathroom tiles, paying a bit more for something that will last longer and has a better reputation is a good idea. Saving money on perishables and design aspects of your home that are easier to replace is a good idea, but for something as permanent as tiles, you should go for quality over price.
